Welcome Kelly Phoenix
I am both delighted and thankful for the opportunity to join the Vivisum Partners family as Senior Associate Consultant. I hail from a once small farm town in Huntersville, NC that recently became a swelling suburb of Charlotte, NC. My childhood was filled with sibling rivalries (I am one of four), weekends playing competitive softball, and over-committing myself to volunteer work. My mother is a retired nurse and my father a small construction business owner. For this reason, family values are important to me in the work place as well as working in a genuine environment.
I have dual degrees from UNC- Chapel Hill in Economics and Dramatic Arts with minors in Technical Design, Directing, and Dramaturgy. Previously I had the privilege of serving as the Executive Director of a budding non-profit called Nourish International, that utilized social business and sustainable development to engage youth leaders in international development projects. We operated on 60+ collegiate campuses and worked with grass-roots NGO’s across 28 countries to bring community changing investments to 55,000 people a year living on less than $1.25 a day. Over the years I have traveled to over 30 countries and deeply broadened my understanding of other cultures and 10^9 issues, that effect more than a billion people in our world.
In my spare time I like to read thoughtless fiction novels and pickup eclectic hobbies, which range from astronomy to woodworking. I have a warm spot for improv comedy and live concerts. My favorite business book is Good to Great, because I find studying business cases fascinating and the takeaways from Dan Collin’s writings have withstood the test of time throughout my career. My favorite quote is, “People forget will what you said, people will forget what you do, but people will never forget how you made them feel”, by Maya Angelou. The top item on my bucket list is to be part of a miracle for someone in need.
My hope is that I bring my compassion, tenacity and disruptive ideas to the Vivisum Team and ultimately my contributions will be a catalyst for success within our company and for our clients. It’s extremely rare to come across a business with the mission of exploring the role of business in social progress and career in self-actualization. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in this goal!
